This is the 2nd in a 4-part series on how to potentially organize your LinkedIn messaging and communicate better with your Network. Today we are getting into reaching your current network (AKA all your 1st level connections).
Communication is key
Please feel free to view the other articles but this is pretty much the skinny.
Part 1 concentrates on the most basic and important campaign. It builds your network, communicates with the new individuals and reaches out to them after a certain period.
Part 2 (this article) touches base on your entire 1st level connections (old and new) for various touchpoints and event-driven tasks.
Part 3 concentrates and 2 campaigns for LinkedIn InMail. And best techniques to bypass the need to first having that individual connecting to your 1st level network.
Part 4 talks about LinkedIn’s powerful social media features and how it can create 2-way traffic.

How much is your time worth?
This is just one formula that is constantly changing as trends and LinkedIn changes. So create your own formula that works for you. Just use my recommendations as a starting point.
Now just to recap this is staying in touch with your current network. You can do this in several ways.
Touchpoints. These are identical in structure to the Touchpoints of the previous campaign. Includes things like quarterly/later down the road messages or a hello, I’m still here and this is what I do, or something new to show. Add something of value to that individual. The difference is that the target is not a necessary part of the initial campaign of connecting, messaging and later just reaching out. It is targeted all or specific 1st level connections.
Event Messages. These are things like a new job, birthday or anniversary. You can easily see this in your LinkedIn site in the Notifications It gives you a chance to say something nice and by adding your signature and tagline it reminds them of what you do. If they end up replying “thank you” it actually gives you a chance to ask a question (business question if you know what I mean).
A Sweep. You may have a particular thing you want to hit up everyone with. Depending on your network that might not be the best blind strategy. May want to target some sort of group with your Sales Navigator. And you want to spend no more than like 50 to 60ish a day (maybe spread out in 2 sessions that day to avoid issues). LinkedIn is generous on the messaging part but don’t go crazy or they place some limits on your account.
When Networking on LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a business. Their goal is to sell your services. So they do not like automated plugins and people that arbitrarily break their rules. So if you are going to start using your account to truly network and build a business, best to get LinkedIn Navigator. It is a paid service that allows you to better target your audience. And they continually look for plugins and that sort of thing and may block your account if you use, go against trends and put you in LinkedIn Jail (basically making it harder to use your account for networking and business purposes).
LinkedIn is a business
So there are a lot of best practices to avoid trouble and to get the best possible results.
